'Journey through the glasshouse'

All that is...

The humidity hits your lungs as soon as you leave the Earth's biodome behind and enter the glasshouse.  Excitement rises as you inhale the warm air, ears tingle with new sounds and your eyes feast on the journey ahead.  All of your senses are open and your very cells start to communicate with the lifeforms which have been nurtured within.  For you are all one, the differences obvious and yet the same.

This series of paintings began in West Wales visiting my brother and his family, where, for the first time ever, I slept in a tent alone.  On this short trip I had the time to play with paint, breathe the air, listen and observe nature and my place in it.  I remembered the amazing Eden Project and popped to Botanical gardens Wales on the way home where I experienced the magnificent glasshouses.

As I became super aware of flower, leaf and seed shapes, studying them in detail, they crept into my psyche and were translated into these paintings.

There is something intimidating about the beginning of a painting and often there is fear of completion.  Having gone through the process again and survived, I encourage others to be brave and go forwards always as it is always the process where the magic happens.

I've just popped into Caerleon and the snug and seen this beautiful artwork next to my table.  It's exactly what I needed to see today...it's stunning

Instagram comment about 'Trust the journey'

We are always delighted to show Louise Horton's work here at Barnabas. A wonderfully creative human generally and an artist that never disappoints with her constantly evolving style.
